Obama's media and internet savvy presidential campaign seems to have invented a powerful new tactic for the remaining weeks of the race to the White House. So far his success in this presidential campaign has rested mainly on his huge army of supporters, managed with the most advanced digital network expertise. The list of his supporters, running into the millions, enabled him to collect huge amounts of campaign dollars and to mobilize a national volunteer network as well. However, he seems to be now mobilizing this army of supporters in order to bully adversary media outlets with his website: The Action Wire. The technique increasingly used is known as Denial of Service Attacks, DSA, forbidden in the UK but not in the US. The effect is that normal customers are prevented from using a particular service such as media properly. And it works like this: media messages are monitored 24/7 and if anything is regarded as wrong or simply not welcome, the Obama campaign uses its awesome army of supporters, many of them left wing radicals, to hit back on the responsible media outlet. Hundreds or thousands of them will keep flooding radio and television stations with e-mails or phone calls as soon as opponents are on air or anti-Obama ads are being published. According to the Weekly Standard: It did so as recently as Monday night, when it orchestrated a massive stream of complaints on the phone lines of Tribune Co-owned WGN-AM in Chicago when the radio station hosted author David Freddoso, who has written a controversial book about the Illinois Democrat. So much for Obama's claims to leave behind embattled partisanship and engage in a bipartisan style of political debate.

Er, not quite.

It's actually a DoS attack. And it isn't. DoS is where you make repeated requests for a webpage to bring the server down. In this case it's a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) as it comes from multiple sources, even if there's only one controller. And this isn't really that as it is mostly a register of complaint, rather than a pointless time waste. However, it does waste resources and stifle debate instead of rising to it. Seems a negative campaigning tactic and a dangerous precedent.

With regards to Barack Obama and other high profile politicians, they are attempting to limit the right to use on-demand, short-term financial assistance. A number of cities and towns are also attempting bans on the industry, with several more attempting to follow suit. American citizens from all across the nation are fighting the legislation hoping to have their voices heard to prevent the abolishment of the payday loan industry. Regardless of the hundreds of thousands of potential jobs lost, these politicians are encouraging the elimination of this matter generally for personal political gain.

Does anyone have the context for Obama's quote about "the invisible hand works best when guided by a higher principle"? I heard this but didn't note the source. Can anyone help?
Payday Loan Advocate for OBAMA VS McCAIN ON THE ECONOMY
written by Payday Loan Advocate, September 27, 2008
Some politicians, such as Barack Obama, are looking to outlaw the payday loan industry. A large part of this intention was stirred by the flawed idea that payday lenders fall under the same moral values as illegal loan sharks. Being misinformed can accumulate some severe consequences. Although this statement is true, they take no notice of the genuine fact that the main source of these consequences is based on a course of action on inaccurate information. Sadly, a number of politicians have successfully passed legislation in their states, city and towns which controls, or even takes away your ability to get a payday loan. Now is the time to take action and educate your friend and family to protect your rights to financial independence.

It is easy to get into trouble if you take a chance on something without being informed, or take action based on faulty information or assumptions. Currently, the pros and cons of payday loans are being hotly contested, and just what is in the future for the industry. Some of our leaders, from both sides of the aisle, have even enacted legislation at the state and local levels that makes it difficult to get a payday loan if you need one, and some have banned them outright. Still others, such as Barack Obama, are looking to get rid of the industry altogether; which is based on the idea that payday loan lenders are nothing more than legalized loan sharks, which is just outright faulty logic. This is the time to educate yourself and your friends so all can preserve their right to financial independence.

Being misinformed can lead to disastrous results especially if you are making crucial decisions based on skewed facts and false information. The advantages and disadvantages of payday loans are often misconstrued. Many politicians across the United States are making an effort to pass legislation that would limit or completely abolish your ability to get a payday loan. Sad to say, the anti-payday loan legislation has been passed in some states, and there are many states that are beginning to follow suit. These new laws are foolishly based on the supposition that payday loan companies utilize the same poor ethical standards as predatory lenders and illegal loan sharks. Your financial independence relies on the knowledge of the American people. So don’t be misinformed on the facts and don’t let your friends and family be misinformed either; share what you know about the advantages of the payday loan industry.

Prime Target of Corrupt Officials.. written by Payday Loan Advocate, October 06, 2008
The payday loan industry has been the prime target for corrupt politicians, from all sides, seeking an increase in voter support at the expense of what’s best for their citizens. Governors of several states including, Georgia, North Carolina, and Oregon completely drove payday loan companies out of their states. The negative effects of driving out payday loan companies from these states, appears to have not been what was best for its’ citizens. For instance, in Georgia, the bankruptcy filings, bounced checks and foreclosures all skyrocketed after the cash advance product was done away with. In spite of these negative statistics, following the closure of payday loans in these states, several other governors continue to try and follow suit. Top national politicians, such as presidential hopeful Barack Obama, are now stepping into the arena in hopes of wiping the industry completely off the map. Should such efforts deem successful, the possibility is very real for increased unemployment rates, more debt, more foreclosures and an even more crippled economy.
