Freedom's Fighters with Lord Matt Ridley

In June, the ASI welcomes Matt Ridley for our latest Freedom’s Fighters session. Matt Ridley worked for the Economist for nine years as science editor, Washington correspondent and American editor, before becoming a self-employed writer and businessman. Matt is the author of the notable ‘Rational Optimist’ and ‘The Evolution of Everything’ as well as other numerous books. His publications have sold over a million copies and translated into 31 languages.

As well as being a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and of the Academy of Medical Sciences, Matt is a foreign honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He won the Hayek Prize in 2011, the Julian Simon award in 2012 and the Free Enterprise Award from the Institute of Economic Affairs in 2014.

Matt has been a long time supporter of the Institute’s work and we look forward to hosting him.

Doors at the Adam Smith Institute open at 6pm, with networking drinks until 6.30pm when Adam Smith Institute President, Dr Pirie and Matt Ridley will begin the interview, finishing at 7pm. While there is no formal Q&A there is an opportunity to ask questions after the event. Carriages at 7.30pm.

Freedom’s Fighters are one of our smaller events, with just 24 guests. If you would like to RSVP please do so by emailing events@adamsmith.org.

If you aren’t able to attend we’ll be filming the event and publishing these on our Facebook and YouTube pages. You can find our last one, with Lord Nigel Lawson below (and links here to our talks with Daniel Hannan MEP, Guido Fawkes founder Paul Staines, economist Ruth Lea, and the IEA’s Mark Littlewood).
