The Adam Smith Institute Responds to Trump’s Tariffs

Commenting on Trump’s Tariffs, Maxwell Marlow, Director of Public Affairs at the Adam Smith Institute, said:

“The President’s imposition of 10% tariffs will hurt British exports. Employment, profits and sales will only decline. And they will do nothing but harm to the American people. Tariffs are, by definition, a tax hike.

We could be facing a worldwide recession. It is essential that the Prime Minister does not levy retaliatory tariffs- this would only further increase costs for consumers and businesses.”
